5 Minute Crock Pot Garlic Chicken

Ingredients

1 chicken (thawed is preferred, but frozen is OK)

3 Tbs Salt

4 Tbs Bottled Crushed Garlic

1 Head Fresh Garlic

Step 1: Put Chicken In Crock Pot

Unwrap your chicken and put it in the crock pot. If your chicken is already thawed (preferred, but not necessary), remove the neck and organs from the cavity of the chicken and discard now.

Mix 3 Tbs. salt with 4 Tbs. crushed garlic and spread on or in the chicken.

Step 2: Add Fresh Garlic

Break the bunch of garlic into cloves. Peel the cloves. This is easiest using a rubber jar opener (a must-have item for the kitchen). Play the video below to see how easy it is to peel garlic with a jar opener.

Peel all the cloves except the ones that are too small to bother with. Dump them all into the pot with the chicken.

Step 3: Cook!

In about 3 hours your chicken should look something like this:

Your chicken will look something like the chicken at the left. Put the lid on the crock pot and set it to high. You will need to cook it for about 8 hours.

Step 4: Remove neck and parts if frozen

If your chicken was thawed or you know it didn't have any parts you didn't want inside it, skip this step.

If your chicken was frozen, check the inside at this time to see if the neck and giblets were inside and remove and discard them at this time (the chicken should be thawed enough to get them out now).

Step 5: Serve!

When 8 hours have elapsed since you put your chicken in, it should look something like this picture. Remove the chicken and put it on a plate.

Cover the chicken with aluminum foil and let it rest for 5 minutes (this will help it retain the juices when you cut into it).

You can easily separate the meat from the bones and skin before serving, or just let everyone carve their own piece--you won't even need a knife. It will come apart easily with a fork.

It makes great leftovers and sandwiches too! The juices left in the crock pot can be made into a tasty gravy, but that's another lesson. Now it's time to enjoy your chicken!
