Lensbabies Aperture Examples
The following pages will show the difference in blur and 'sweet spot based on which aperture ring I used.
Video Tutorial - "How to change the Aperture of a Lensbaby 3G" (click the video to start. 'Seek Control' at the bottom. )
This image was shot with the Lensbaby 3G with no aperture ring. The equivelant aperture is f/2.0 ISO 200 Shutter 1/400
This gives really selective focus around the letters 'AR'
This image was shot with the Lensbaby 3G with the thinnest aperture ring. The equivelant aperture is f/2.8 (ISO 200 Shutter 1/200)
This image was shot with the Lensbaby 3G with the second smallest aperture ring. The equivelant aperture is f/4 (ISO 200 Shutter 1/100)
This image was shot with the Lensbaby 3G with the third aperture ring. The equivelant aperture is f/5.6 (ISO 200 Shutter 1/40)
This is just a little tight still to get the entire heart.
This image was shot with the Lensbaby 3G with the fourth aperture ring. The equivelant aperture is f/8 (ISO 200 Shutter 1/20)
This is the first shot where the entire heart starts to be in focus.
This image was shot with the Lensbaby 3G with the fifth aperture ring. The equivelant aperture is f/11 (ISO 200 Shutter 1/13)
The tree is becoming more clear in this shot with the background still blurred out.
This image was shot with the Lensbaby 3G with the sixth aperture ring. The equivelant aperture is f/16 (ISO 200 Shutter 1/13)
You can start to make out the shapes of leaves in this shot.
This image was shot with the Lensbaby 3G with the final aperture ring. The equivelant aperture is f/22 (ISO 200 Shutter 1/5)
The leaves are clearer but it still has a shallower depth of field than a normal lens.
Lensbabies are fantastic for putting the focus on the subject matter. I hope that this is a good guide for you to see what the possibilities are with the lensbaby. Experiment with the different apertures included with your lensbaby to get just the right shot.
Thanks,
Curtis J. Morley
